Screen project. ... Fall Pumpkin instead.

I have wanted to start  another screen drawing, using the Neocolor II  crayons, yet with the fall season coming  I noticed one of my small paper  pumpkins needed some paint.  So testing out the crayons  on the form, I found it blends great on the smooth surface without  water, only a damp brush.

I like the outcome, a smooth mix of the fall colors.

Then beginning to sketch the new screen image.  Working on the new image between teaching classes an adjunct instructor at the Lakes Region Community College.

Vacation drawing

I have been on vacation, spending my time reading art magazines, painting and creating miniature pictures of the beautiful beachfront area. I have enjoyed my days and been getting tan at the beach.
Walking the beach along the waters edge in the day. And in the evening walking the bordwalk, looking in shops,  taking in the restaurants, playing miniature golf and going on the amusement rides.
A wonderful family  vacation week.

Planning for the new school year

I have begun planning for the new school year and in the process I have not found interesting planner pages I like with the spaces I want to use. So I have created my own pages and I will do two more to be unique pages for my own planner book.

So far these pages are the base for the layout,  I will add a quote and the text with Adobe then make it the right size for the placement of the holes and send it to print for back to back pages.

Learning a new Bookbinding Stitch

This  bookbinding  stitch  is beautiful  and intricate  yet I am finding it to be a bit complicated.  I am determined to master the stitch  then use it to create  a new artist book.
I have 4 book ideas in my head I will be sketching out to figure out how they will be bound and made.  I will post more about it soon.

Today is crazy artistic mojo.

I am making many decisions about my work and how it will be presented at the exhibition.  I am  cutting,  hanging, measuring and arranging.
My art is very nostalgic  yet using new pieces  made to look old.

* Happy 4th of July! *

Happy Independence day to all Americans  and a BIG thank you to our Military, current and veteran service people, that keep us safe and free in our country.

What is on my art desk today.

I have been sewing together the mono-printed pages of the artist books,  these  take time to punch the holes then hand stitch two pages together.

I have printed enough pages for six books, I'm hoping to have three done for the beginning of the show in the installation setting. I like the way the books look so far. The nostalgic image and the old style antiqued collage covers  will be an interesting combination.

The art show will be setting up soon,  check back for the opening day and hours post.

Artist talk ... Sharon Louden

Wonderful artist talk, very informative. Sharon Louden talked of how to sustain a creative life.  She asked the question of the audience, What do you need as an artist?

I began to think of what I would need to be creative and create art. How do you have a practice of creating and be able to successfully sell / promote my work?

Art Studio Residency

Over the next 4 weeks I am in the studio residency program creating final works for the art exhibition.
I am enthusiastic about spending  hours creating art,  researching art information  and discussing art works with other artists.
I am going through my mono screenprinted images of antique objects I inherited, considering how others relate to the nostalgic view of the images.

Working in the studio. ..

Working in the studio,  antiquing copies of familt photos and ancestors  photos to use in my collage project.

Just a reminder to never use the original antique photos, make a digital copy so you can playfully create with them whenever you want.

Some of the pictures are of my ancestors, three generations past.

College Graduation with Masters in Art

I have been away from my blog, busy working on my art for my Masters degree and learned so much about my art through the studio classes.

The instructors at NH Institute of Art were really helpful to make us think about why we create and how we create our art to show the message and meanings within our artwork.   The online classes at NHIA  for art education were very interesting.

Graduation  with a Master of Arts in Art Education from a small school was a great celebration and new friendships.
