Out with the Old - In with New for 2018

I have been sorting through old stamps some from Stampin Up and some that I acquired. I'm putting all the sets together so I can put them online and sell. I no longer use the stamp sets because I make custom drawings and illustrations instead of stamping cardsand stuff. Now they are up for sale, cleaning out stuff in the studio that I no longer use.

While my kids were little, I enjoyed working with the stamps it was fun, easy and quick to use the stamps to make scrapbook pages, kid art and cards

Now I enjoy taking the time to do the drawings since my kids are doing their own art.

10 Things Artists Do to Get Motovated.

Getting unstuck, when it must get done. Making art and feeling sick don't mix.  I sat at my desk to work yet with a head cold, I just couldn't concentrate.  My work was in front of me and I knew what needed to get done but I didn't have motovation to begin.  It takes motovation to do the things we need to,  but what if it is something  that must get done and dont have the motovation.
So we feel stuck, lacking motovation.
It is the same as facing a blank canvas. As artists, we just Do it. There is a list of routine things we do to figure out what needs doing until a motivational idea strikes.
I had read an article a while back on ArtNews that was about just this topic.  The artist Tom Burckhard, created a work of art, that has traveled  to museums and galleries showing the feeling an artist has of facing the blank canvas when they are in the studio surrounded by the supplies in which we use to create.
This artist, Tom Burckhard with his FULL STOP (2004–5) installation showed the realities an artist has of the thoughts of feeling stuck, reoccurring feelings of not knowing what to create.
The big empty canvas, represents the reoccurring fear of “feeling stuck" the same as many artists.
Well artists have found ways to get unstuck by doing many things.   This motivational list is just a few of the things artists do.

LIST  of  10 things artists do to get Unstuck and have creative MOTOVATION.
1. Reading a good book.
2. Taking a mini vacation.
3. Play a video game.
4. Try new art material.
5. Clean the art studio or house.
6. Do laundry.
7. Meditate
8. Sketching
9. Use the computer for ideas.
10.  Listening to music.
I know I am guilty of doing a few of these.  I found the top one on the list was reading, and in second was sketching; both are ways for me to get back into the groove.
I need to get back into the studio to get producing.

What is on My Art Desk

Neocolor crayons,  watercolor pencils, Prismacolor color pencils, graphite pencils are  part of my artistic assault on working with the ghost screen prints.   Using the ghost prints as a starting point, I am able to make a few more pieces that are similar pieces of work.

Update: Beginning of Art Work Sales

                Original Art for Sale.
I just recently changed my studio around, to give me easier access to my items I need as I work. This is when I realized how much work I still have in my studio from  before the two times I have moved.

I am selling the original work and printed items too. To the beginning of using a website and to have have an open studio day, which would mean I have to get the art ready for all of this, the website gallery,  the online store and the open studio. As I began working on the website, I realized many of my art images have not been digitally scanned, photographed, then matted and even framed. So creating the web pages and the online store is the easy part -  cataloging the art, getting it photographed, matted, framed and ready to go up online and the studio walls is a large task.
SO - it is going slow and hopefully my website,  store  and studio gallery walls will be ready by the 1st of the year... I am trying for sooner.

I am doing all this while I teach classes at the College.

Below: just a few of the images I am scanning, later the larger images will get photographed.

Screen project. ... Fall Pumpkin instead.

I have wanted to start  another screen drawing, using the Neocolor II  crayons, yet with the fall season coming  I noticed one of my small paper  pumpkins needed some paint.  So testing out the crayons  on the form, I found it blends great on the smooth surface without  water, only a damp brush.

I like the outcome, a smooth mix of the fall colors.

Then beginning to sketch the new screen image.  Working on the new image between teaching classes an adjunct instructor at the Lakes Region Community College.

Vacation drawing

I have been on vacation, spending my time reading art magazines, painting and creating miniature pictures of the beautiful beachfront area. I have enjoyed my days and been getting tan at the beach.
Walking the beach along the waters edge in the day. And in the evening walking the bordwalk, looking in shops,  taking in the restaurants, playing miniature golf and going on the amusement rides.
A wonderful family  vacation week.

Planning for the new school year

I have begun planning for the new school year and in the process I have not found interesting planner pages I like with the spaces I want to use. So I have created my own pages and I will do two more to be unique pages for my own planner book.

So far these pages are the base for the layout,  I will add a quote and the text with Adobe then make it the right size for the placement of the holes and send it to print for back to back pages.
